Birthday Bash!

Evelyn is 1! We had such a beautiful day, the weather was perfect, the food was good, and somehow we managed to have 60 people join us to celebrate. God is good, and blessed us with a big backyard! It was so touching to see so many people from church, work, family, and neighbors all in one place and loving on your kid. Both of us felt so blessed!
The day came together with the help of so many people, thank you all! We played a couple games, and wore our "ladybug antenae" but the highlight was the Pinata (thanks to Aunt Molly and cousin Hailey). All of the little kids got to take a swing at her, and finally she came down thanks to our 7 year old boys. It was a scramble after that when the kids swooped in to get all the yummy candy. You'll see the pic, it's hilarious.
I initially thought this would be a mostly adult day. I knew of course we would have kids there, but I quickly caught on that I am now a mom that throws parties FOR the kids. The fun is centered around them, and my adult family and friends are happy watching, knowing that their kids are having a good time. Of course having the Ohio State game on and a couple beers makes them happy too.
It was truly a blessed day, and Evelyn had a great time. She loved opening and playing with all her new toys and reading all her new books (I'm excited about all the new clothes). I can't tell you how many times I got choked up, when I first saw her in her ladybug outfit, when she fell in love with her new baby, and especially when I read the comments on her scrapbook from all who signed. We missed those of you who couldn't make it, especially my family. But, we have been blessed beyond measure with such wonderful people around us, and an amazing child who is our little one-year-old angel.

Yes, we dressed her up as a Ladybug!
