The Benefits of Physical Activity
Regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. It can help:- Control your weight
- Reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease
- Reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome
- Reduce your risk of some cancers
- Strengthen your bones and muscles
- Improve your mental health and mood
- Improve your ability to do daily activities and prevent falls, if you're an older adult
- Increase your chances of living longer
I disagree a little that this doesn't specifically say exercise, because mowing the lawn once a week, no matter how sweaty you are, doesn't really count. sorry. Be intentional.
I thought it would be a good reminder for me that it's not just about how I look. It's about so much more. Especially as we age, it's just so important to Move Regularly Everyday. It may not be how John and I have chosen to workout. Maybe you have time to get to the gym, maybe your membership is paid for by work, maybe you don't "do" videos, maybe you swim, or run. Whatever you "do" or want to try. Go For IT.
